Meadowlake Ranch History
The 350 ac property was purchased in 1999 by Dr. Tom and Sue Lynn Warren as a private ranch. Tom is a retired Chiropractor and Sue Lynn is a former teacher. Originally they intended for the ranch to simply be their residence, a place to raise their two kids, Lyndee and Tabor. But, as development costs mounted they decided to open their personal weekend cabin to the public as a B&B to defray expenses. The response to the beauty of the ranch and its proximity to Tulsa was overwhelming. The Warrens soon built more Lakeside Log Cabins, added Trail Riding and Cowboy Skills and a large NEW Wedding & Event Center and Meadow Lake Ranch has since evolved organically into Oklahoma’s premier B&B, Dude Ranch, Wedding & Event Center.
Interesting facts: The Warren family and a small staff have built everything on the property themselves, including a large shop, two bluff-top cabins, three lakeside cabins, three authentic Indian tipis, a super safe gun range, large activity area for cowboy skills, 20,000 sq ft outdoor arena, round pen, hay barns, feeding barns, lodge and New Wedding & Event Center. In addition they have planted thousands of loblolly pines and built dozens of landscape features including running streams and waterfalls.
The ranch features several spring-fed lakes that were originally old rock quarries that filled up after engineers quarried the limestone for Keystone Lake.
There is an old Indian cemetery on the property known as Post Oak Cemetery, named after the Taylor Postoak family of Creek Indians. There are many graves that date back to the time around the civil war.
Several famous actors and performers have visited the ranch. Paul McCartney and Nancy stayed in Cabin 2 (now known as ‘Paul’s Cabin’) during the summer of 2008 while traveling Route 66 for his 66th birthday. He and Nancy are very warm and personable folks.
We have been visited by guests from all 50 states and 43 countries. Meadow Lake Ranch is a ‘destination vacation’. Often our overseas visitors fly to the U.S. for the express purpose of enjoying an Oklahoma Dude Ranch experience.
Starting in the early 1900’s this property has been known for its large oil deposits. At one time there were sixty oil wells drilled on the ranch. Remnants of oil field history can be found everywhere including four stone & concrete footers left over from an old wooden derrick and two redwood oil tanks on the hill by our horse arena. Oil is still being pumped today, just not as much as in yesteryear… yet.
Meadowlake Ranch Future
Meadowlake Ranch is constantly improving. We recently completed our NEW Wedding & Event Center, upgraded our beautiful bluff-top Bridal Suite and doubled the size of our most popular Lakeside Wedding & Event Venue with lighted waterfalls, rock retaining walls and expansive large plant landscaping. How big is it? Hint: It required seven dump truck loads of mulch!
The B&B cabins are booking like crazy, we have had thousands of dude ranch guests from all fifty states and 43 countries, we host dozens of weddings each year and local companies flock here to celebrate their employees with company picnics, retreats and parties. The future is bright indeed. We LOVE sharing our ranch and a bit of Oklahoma with thousands of guests each year!
We love hearing from our guests… and future guests.
